All those who sincerely believe in God are eagerly awaiting the coming of the Lord. So, how can we welcome the Lord? The Lord Jesus once said: “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20). The Lord has told us that when He comes back, He will knock on the door for us and that only when we go out to welcome Him can we dine with Him at the wedding feast. The Bible says: “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached to the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory” (1 Timothy 3:16). Brothers and sisters, God’s appearance in the flesh is a great mystery and is the truth that must be understood. However, few people are able to understand what the incarnation is. Back when the Lord Jesus appeared and worked in the flesh, many people saw His ordinary, normal appearance and thus treated Him as a person, saying: “Is this not Joseph’s son? Is this not a Nazarene?” The Pharisees not only didn’t recognize the Lord Jesus as God incarnate, but they also wantonly condemned and opposed Him and finally nailed Him to the cross. Clearly, if we don’t understand what the incarnation is, we will be apt to become those who believe in God but resist Him.
So, what is the incarnation? How should we know the incarnate God? Given that we don’t understand this aspect of the truth, can we recognize the Lord when He returns? Is it not extremely easy for us to commit the mistakes of the earliest Pharisees? So, understanding this aspect of the truth is critical for us knowing God and welcoming the return of the Lord.

As we all know, the Jewish chief priests, the scribes and the Pharisees all served God in the temple. When the Lord Jesus did His work on earth, most of them admitted that His work and words had authority as well as power. Then why did they still nail the Lord Jesus to the cross? We know from the records in the Bible what the Lord Jesus did at that time shocked the entire Judean nation. He fed five thousand with five loaves of bread and two fish. He made the lame walk, the blind see, the dead return, and so on. That shocked all of Judea. Many people spread the Lord Jesus’ name and the news of the work He did on earth. And the followers of the Lord Jesus grew great and many. But when those chief priests, scribes, and the Pharisees saw it all, hatred grew in their hearts. They all understood if the Lord Jesus continued His work, their Jewish followers would soon turn to follow Him, that all of Judaism would break down before very long and collapse. And so, to safeguard Judaism’s existence and the Bible’s dignity, as well as to hold on their lofty jobs and positions, they frantically condemned the Lord Jesus with false accusations. In the end, they colluded with the Roman government to crucify the Lord Jesus alive.

Some brothers and sisters said, “Now we’ve known that the Lord Jesus did the redemptive work and redeemed man from sin in the Age of Grace and that Almighty God has incarnated in the last days and carried out the work of judgment and chastisement to purify man. But how can we understand these two stages of work are done by one God?”
