Returning to Life From the Brink of Death

In 2007 I suddenly fell ill with chronic renal failure. When they heard the news, my Christian mother and sister-in-law, and some Catholic friends all came to preach the gospel to me. They told me that as long as I turned to the Lord, my illness would be cured. But I didn’t believe in God at all. I thought that illness could only be cured through scientific medical treatment, and that any disease that couldn’t be cured by science was incurable. After all, was there any power on earth greater than the power of science? Faith in God was just a kind of psychological crutch, and I was a dignified state school teacher, a person who was well-educated and cultured, so there was no way I’d start believing in God. As such, I turned them down and began looking around for medical treatment. Within a few years I’d been to virtually every large hospital in my home county and throughout the province, but my condition still hadn’t improved. In fact, it was getting worse, but I stubbornly clung to my own way of looking at the situation and insisted that science could change anything, that curing illness was a process that takes time. 3 Things We Must Grasp to Gain the Strength of Prayer

3 Things We Must Grasp to Gain the Strength of Prayer (2)

By Cindy, United States

Prayer is how we as Christians draw close to God as well as a necessary condition for us to be moved by the Holy Spirit, and enlightened and illuminated by God. The power of prayer is great—if we genuinely pray to God, and understand the principles and practices of prayer, when we encounter difficulties or dilemmas in our life, we’ll be able to face them in a relaxed way. Christian Reflection: Why Does Christianity Have So Many Denominations?

the Bible

By Zhou Tao

Editor’s Note: Dear brothers and sisters, peace be with you all! From when the Lord Jesus was resurrected from the dead and ascended into heaven two thousand years ago up until the present, God’s believers have already split up into over two thousand different denominations. Many people find this confusing—God’s believers all read the same Bible, all admire God’s salvation at the cross, and all walk the way of the cross which God has trailblazed for His believers, so why are there so many different denominations? Read on to find the answer. Continue reading “Christian Reflection: Why Does Christianity Have So Many Denominations?”

The Sky Was Especially Clear and Sunny That Day (Part 3)

God's salvation, read God's words

By Tian Ying, China

After returning home, I kept thinking over the fellowship given by the sister, and I thought to myself: “What that sister was saying all accords with the Bible. It really was ill-founded of me when I believed that ‘once saved always saved’!” I thought back on all the years I’d believed in the Lord and realized that I was constantly living in a state whereby I would commit sins and then confess them, but I was never able to solve this problem, and I personally went through a lot of suffering. I felt that if I went on believing like this, then ultimately I would not be able to attain God’s praise. After listening to the sister’s fellowship, I became even more certain that if people believing in the Lord want to attain full salvation and enter into the kingdom of heaven, then they really do have to accept the work that judges and cleanses man performed by the returned Lord Jesus. So I wondered: What really is Almighty God’s work of judgment in the last days? And how does Almighty God cleanse and change man? I Learned to Discern Between the True Christ and False Christs and Welcomed the Return of Jesus (Part 2)

Revealing the Pharisees, Distinguish Between the True Christ and False Christs,

By Xiangwang, Malaysia

Brother Zhang continued his fellowship, saying, “God is the truth, the way and the life, and besides discerning between the true Christ and false Christs by the principles of God’s work, we can also discern them by the essence of Christ.” At that point, Brother Zhang sent over a passage of God’s words: “God become flesh is called Christ, and so the Christ that can give people the truth is called God. There is nothing excessive about this, for He possesses the substance of God, and possesses God’s disposition, and wisdom in His work, that are unattainable by man. Those who call themselves Christ, yet cannot do the work of God, are frauds. Christ is not merely the manifestation of God on earth, but also the particular flesh assumed by God as He carries out and completes His work among man. This flesh cannot be supplanted by just any man, but is a flesh that can adequately bear God’s work on earth, and express the disposition of God, and well represent God, and provide man with life. Sooner or later, those who impersonate Christ will all fall, for although they claim to be Christ, they possess none of the substance of Christ. And so I say that the authenticity of Christ cannot be defined by man, but is answered and decided by God Himself” (“Only Christ of the Last Days Can Give Man the Way of Eternal Life” in The Word Appears in the Flesh). Through the Great Tribulation, I Have Reaped Great Benefits

Religious Persecution, God's salvation,

By Rongguang

God said: “Based on their different functions and testimonies, the overcomers within the kingdom will serve as priests or followers, and all those who are victorious amid tribulation will become the body of priests within the kingdom. … In the body of priests there will be chief priests and priests, and the remainder will be the sons and people of God. This is all determined by their testimonies to God during tribulation; they are not titles that are given at whim”  “God’s Work and Man’s Practice” in The Word Appears in the Flesh Continue reading “Through the Great Tribulation, I Have Reaped Great Benefits”

How to Have True Faith in God: Enlightenment From Moses’ Journey Out of Egypt

By Chang PingWhenever I read through the Book of Exodus I read about Moses’ life; he was adopted by the Pharaoh’s daughter and he was educated just like an Egyptian, but he never forgot that he was an Israelite. Once when he went to see his brothers, he saw an Egyptian beating an Israelite and stepped in to help him, beating the Egyptian to death. He then fled to the Midian wilderness to escape the Pharaoh who was seeking his death. He stayed there for 40 years, and then Jehovah God called upon Moses to have him lead the Israelites in their exodus from Egypt. Moses accepted God’s commission and went to see the Pharaoh, but he was unwilling to let go of the Hebrew slaves. God then brought ten disasters down upon Egypt, and ultimately Moses was able to successfully lead the Israelites out of Egypt.Every time I read this in the Bible, I think about how Moses was an upright man who was staunchly loyal to his own people. He should have been able to take on what God entrusted him with, so why didn’t God just make use of him right away, but instead have him tempered in the wilderness for four decades? What was God’s will behind this? I was never able to figure this out until I read a couple passages of God’s words that were really elucidating.
